USA Cycling Revamps Mountain Bike Categories

USA Cycling has officially renamed the racing categories for mountain bike disciplines. This change affects women less than the men, because the guys will lose the "Semi-Pro" classification. Instead of racing as a Beginner, Sport, Expert, Semi-Pro, or Pro, both men and women will race as category 3, 2, 1, or Pro in 2009. It's kind of like road categories, where beginners ride in the 3s, sports ride as 2s and experts ride as 1s. All of the categories, except for Pro, will still be divided into age groups as well.
