Diablo Gravity Series Finals

The final race of the Diablo Gravity Series held at Diablo Freeride Park in NJ was held last weekend. We also missed the results from the September race, so they're listed below. Hillary Elgert won the final pro women's downhill race, and she took the series title too. Liz Scoville won the pro women's giant slalom and took that series title. The third race of the Diablo Freeride Park Gravity Series took place this weekend in Vernon, NJ. We failed to post the results of the second race in July, so we'll include those too. Currently, Allie Burch leads the series for the Pro Women, and Becky Gardner is out front for the Amateur Women. The next race in the series is September 12-13. US Open Downhill Finals

Miranda Miller scored the biggest win of her career to date with just .09 seconds to spare over Kathy Pruitt at the US Open downhill in Vernon, NJ. Miranda was just .49 seconds in front of third-place rider, Fionn Griffiths, who was the leader coming out of qualifiers. Talk about a tight race!

US Open Giant Slalom and DH Qualifying Results

The first races of the US Open in Vernon, NJ are over. Jill Kintner bested Melissa Buhl in the Giant Slalom, a mini-DH/super-DS course where one rider at a time raced the clock. Fionn Griffiths holds the fastest time from the downhill qualifier, putting 8 seconds between herself and second-place rider Rebecca McQueen. The downhill finals will be held today at Diablo Freeride Park!

Diablo Gravity Series #1 Results

Diablo Freeride Park in Vernon, NJ held it's first downhill race of the season on Sunday. Several athletes got out to dial in the Park before this weekend's US Open. Allie Burch continued her winning ways in the Pro downhill, though she claims that Lauren won the beginning and end of the course, while she just made up time in the middle. Whatever, Allie. You're fast.

Diablo Domination Series Finals

The last race of the Diablo Domination downhill series was held on Oct. 5, at Diablo Freeride Park, NJ. Freeride Foundation's current Featured Rider, Karen Eagan, took the win for the Pro Women by about 10 seconds. This final race counted for double points, and Isabel Georgian secured the series win for the Pro Women. Diablo Domination Series Round 4 Results

While resorts like Deer Valley, UT celebrated their final days of lift-served downhill for the 2008 season this weekend, there was plenty of racing to be had elsewhere around the country. The first of five US gravity racing results from this weekend come from Diablo Freeride Park, NJ. This was the fourth downhill race of the Diablo Domination series, and Karen Eagan took the win for the Pro Women. Isabel Georgian maintains her series points lead, though. The final race of the series will be held October 5.

Last Day to Register for Jeep King of the Mountain at Diablo

Today is the last day of registration for the Jeep King of the Mountain race at Diablo Freeride Park, NJ this weekend. There are currently 6 girls signed up for the event. Adding at least two more women would make for a full bracket and full prize payout. Right now, if you're women 7 and 8, you're garuanteed to win no less than $500. Ladies, the Jeep King of the Mountain Series Needs You!

I just received an email from Lisa Myklak about the 48 Straight Jeep King of the Mountain Series. Apparently, there are very few girls registered for the Diablo Freeride Park event August 21-23 in New Jersey.
-The Jeep King of the Mountain races are open to any pro who races downhill or slalom.
-The event and series will be televised on CBS.
-It costs just $80 to register, and the prize purse goes 8 deep.
-First takes home $5000, 8th place gets $500.
That's right. I can't think can't think of any bigger incentive to sign up.
Oh, wait, there is one more thing: a carpooling road trip from the west to NJ. Lisa is attempting to coordinate a carpooling van to take a crew of ladies out to the race. And there may be some discounted lodging opportunities at Diablo too.
