Red Bull Burner Results

Once again, I'm on the search for a full results list for an event. However, I'm going to post what I have for last weekend's Red Bull Burner 12-Hour downhill race at Angel Fire, NM. Jackie Harmony is proving to be an endurance downhill queen. She blew apart the competition at the race that allowed riders to choose from three different courses each lap. I can't tell which girls are won which teams for the duo and mixed teams. If you were there, let me know!

Pro Solo Female

2. Linden Lane
3. Lisa Reinhard
4. Jennifer Whalen

Expert Solo Women

2. Kim Gilchrist

Red Bull Burner Results

The Red Bull Burner was a 12-hour downhill race held at Angel Fire, NM on the 20th. I kept checking the AngelFireBurner.com site for results, but they haven't been posted yet. Turns out, they're on Cyclingnews.com. Who knew? Racers were allowed to ride any of three courses in any order or pick a favorite and lap that one all day. Lisa Reinhard killed it in the Pro Women Solo class, putting down 25 laps in just under 12 hours. The Duo and Team categories don't have first names attached, so I can't tell if I'm missing any ladies in those classes.

Pro Women Solo
1. Lisa Reinhard
2. Darian Harvey
3. Jennifer Whalen

Expert Women Solo
1. Kim Gilchrist
2. Traci Koesis

Angel Fire to Host Red Bull Burner 12-Hour Downhill Race

On September 20, 2008, Angel Fire Resort, NM will host the Red Bull Burner. It's a 12-hour endurance downhill race. The race runs from 9:00am to 9:00pm, meaning riders will be throwing down race laps in the dark, adding an even greater challenge. The race is open to everyone from Sport level through Pro, and there are Solo, Duo, and Team options. There is a cash purse for Expert and Pro riders, with the purses being the same for the men and women of each category. This even seems pretty rad! Check out all the details at AngelFireBurner.com.

Now That's a Long Drive

I just got back to Marin, CA from New Mexico. Ouch. That's a long one. And monotonous. What was not monotonous was the weather at the Angel Fire Chile Challenge this weekend. With dry-ish conditions on Thursday, sloppy muck on Friday, frozen mud on Saturday, nearly dry conditions on Sunday, and a dry and balmy Monday, the mountain kept us on our toes. The relentlessly rocky course only had a few high speed sections, and those were nearly as tough to hang on through as the bumpy stuff at the top of the course.

Melissa Buhl walked away with the Pro Women's downhill win. And she won the UCI mountaincross race on Saturday, as well as the National Championship mountaincross jersey on Sunday. Except for the National Championship race, the Chile Challenge races counted toward the National Mountain Bike Series, the USA Cycling Gravity Calendar, and the Mountain States Cup series. Jessica Vogt now leads the MSC series, Melissa will maintain her lead in the NMBS.

Girls' Night at the Angel Fire Chile Challenge

Camping or sharing a condo with 8 dudes and their smelly gear can wear on a girl. We'd like to offer a means of escape--at least for a few hours. On Friday, May 23 at the Angel Fire Chile Challenge, Freeride Foundation is hosting a free Girls' Night to all the ladies at the venue. We'll provide snacks, a movie, and free goodies for everyone. Hooray! It'll go from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Check posters at the venue or email info@freeridefoundation for the address to the condo at the resort. We hope to see you in New Mexico!
