Rachel Bauer Wins Mountain States Cup Final
Rachel Bauer won the Sol Squared G3 event at Sol Vista, CO this weekend, which also secured her overall points win in the Mountain States Cup series. The G3 consisted of two downhill races and a Super D. The person with the lowest combined time for all three events is the winner. Rachel attended all but one of the MSC races, and she competed in all of the gravity disciplines--downhill, dual slalom, mountaincross, and G3--to take the series title. Neven Steinmetz took second in the series. To see the entire list of series rankings, visit RaceMSC.com.

Snowmass G3 Results
The seventh race of the Mountain States Cup series was held this weekend at Snowmass, CO. The event was a G3, meaning racers competed in two separated downhill races, as well as a Super-D. Unfortunately, conditions were less than ideal at the 'Mass, and wet and slimy conditions made for some tough racing. Lisa Myklak survived the slop and secured her third MSC win in two weeks. I don't have results from each race, but I did find the combined overall results on the Mountain States Cup website. Rachel Bauer maintains her points lead in the series, with Darian Harvey now in second, and Lisa Myklak in third.

Chalk Creek Stampede Results
The first Mountain States Cup gravity races took place in Nathrop, CO this weekend. The racing was limited to the gated variety and counts for MSC series points as well as the USA Cycling National Gravity Calendar series points. Joanna Petterson won both the Pro/Expert women's Mountaincross and Dual Slalom races. She battled Lisa Myklak, who's just returning from an injury she suffered at the Holla for Ya Dolla Jam, for the win in slalom. Joanna took on mountaincross specialists Bobbi Watt and Neven Steinmetz in for the win in mountaincross. The Chalk Creek Stampede is the second race on National Gravity Calendar, and the next gravity races for both series will take place over Memorial Day at the Angel Fire Chile Challenge.

Mountain States Cup Revamps 2008 Schedule
Some major changes have occurred on the USA Cycling National Mountain Bike and the Mountain States Cup calendars over the past few weeks. Due to a gondola-building project at Keystone, CO and scheduling conflicts with the MSC event in Telluride, CO, Big Foot Productions, the promoters of the Mountain States Cup have made the following adjustments.
-The first major change is the elimination of the Full Tilt in Telluride event, which was originally slated for August 1-3, 2008. Apparently there has been some effort to reschedule the event, but it currently won't be part of the MSC or USAC schedules.
-The MSC has also eliminated the Keystone Climax event, which was to be held on August 15-16, 2008. This race was supposed to be the third race offering UCI gravity points in the US this summer.
-Big Foot noted the popularity of the G3-formatted Keystone event and added a G3 event in Snowmass, CO on August 8-10, 2008 to make up for Keystone's disappearance. Unfortunately this race won't be UCI-sanctioned. Anyone looking for points will have to do so at the Angel Fire Chile Challenge or the Blast the Mass event.
-The final scheduling revamp for the summer moves the Sol Vista Sol Survivor event from early June to early August (1-3, in to make up for the Telluride conflict). The cool thing about this move is that riders will easily be able to attend both the Sol Vista event and the Crankworx Colorado races.--they're just a few miles apart.
